Fishing Lure

We found this lure washed up on the beach, luckily before anyone stepped on it.

Friday, December 11

Bank of Ottawa

Snapped while driving through central Prince Albert today. I had a meeting in town and got a little lost on purpose on my way out. The downtown core has such a European feel to it.

Thursday, December 10

Thumb

The sin of pride: I am overfond of my new mani.

Tuesday, December 8

Cold

Snapped while in the car driving down Pembina fog rising from the river.:

Monday, December 7

Steam Rising

It's absolutely frigid here, and the river hasn't frozen yet, hence the steam.

Sunday, December 6

Bird in Flight

Faded but glorious in its own way.

Saturday, December 5

La Vie en Rose

Not quite what the song meant, but a better title than: "Yet Another Macro of a Rose"

Friday, December 4

Hoar Frost

Spectacular scenes this morning when I took Darby for his walk, but it was so cold my fingers started to go numb.

Thursday, December 3

Roses

These smell very sweet. Lovely!

Tree

I spent the evening decorating our small tree and listening to Christmas carols. Only 22 more sleeps.

Tuesday, December 1

Snow

Although we did get some light snow today, this dump is being trucked in. My best guess is that it's from the ice machine at the local rink.

Monday, November 30

Asleep in Under 30 Seconds

Darby quickly succumbs to exhaustion.

Sunday, November 29

33rd & Warman

Sundown near Robin Hood.

Saturday, November 28

Beauty

A true glamour shot for a Saturday evening. Spent the day glued to the computer. Have put off my hair long enough. Hope one day to be either gray or rich enough to forgo this at-home ritual.

Friday, November 27

Office

I am hoping to shame myself into cleaning this place by posting a pic.

Thursday, November 26

Darby Sleeping

Two for one today: I couldn't resist this shot of Darby snoozing peacefully. It's very relaxing to watch a dog sleep.

Wednesday, November 25

Pigs in a Blanket

I had my nails done earlier this evening in preparation for next month's holiday in the sun. Counting down the days!

Tuesday, November 24

Horticulture Buildings

Was on campus at the start of the day. Love these little buildings.

Monday, November 23

End of Day

Red drink, red book, red eyes

Sunday, November 22

I <3 My Mac

The keyboard on my new Mac is just the cutest thing. I love the way the brushed steel glows in the light.

Saturday, November 21

Traffic Stop

Not much inspiration today. I snapped this shot at dusk while on my way to the LBS.

Friday, November 20

Sunrise

I've been working in the office downstairs for a few hours, so it was a pleasant surprise to see the pinky sky when I came up for coffee. Now back downstairs. Sigh.

Thursday, November 19

Broadway Bridge

The city was out this afternoon hanging Christmas decorations. While I know not everyone celebrates the holidays, I think it's nice that the city makes an effort every year. The weather has been crazy warm, so I'm sure no one on the cherry picker is complaining. Different story when there's a wind chill of -45.

Wednesday, November 18

Traffic Stopper

For reasons yet to be determined, my faithful Accord decided to conk out on me. Unfortunately, I was stopped at the busiest intersection on the east side. One of Saskaton's finest was kind enough to park behind me and wait until the tow truck showed up. A stressful moment, yes. But it could have been much worse.

Update: The cause has been determined and it's costly: the distributor needs to be replaced. Sigh.

Tuesday, November 17

Truck

I spotted this and thought of my brother. As a young boy, the sight of this probably would have rocked his world.

Sunday, November 15

Craik Eco Centre

I had a meeting out this way and stopped to snap a picture of the dam. It is beautiful here, although it is strange that we haven't had any snow yet.

Saturday, November 14

Banana

This slightly aged piece of fruit had me feeling Warhol-esque. Unfortunately, it proved quite difficult to take an interesting and technically competent photo of said fruit. Am tired. This is all I could muster for today.

Friday, November 13

End of Day

The view from my office before I left for home.

Thursday, November 12

Bus Stop

It's closed for the season, but seeing it made me really crave a chocolate shake. They make really good ones there, but then at five bucks a pop they'd have to be good.

Wednesday, November 11

Lest We Forget

I found this popy last spring when I was in La Ronge. I love the beadwork.

Tuesday, November 10

Sunrise

Since I don't usually take a tripod with me on the morning walk, I usually need to find a level surface in order to get a good capture in this low light. The park bench was my best and only alternative.

Monday, November 9

Scarf-in-progress

Current edition.

Saturday, November 7

Petals

My beautiful birthday roses have started to drop, so I've collected the petals.

Friday, November 6

Water Main Break: Day 3

The pipes have been mended, but the street now needs to be repaved.

Thursday, November 5

Water Main Break: Day 2

The city sent out a crew at the crack of 8.00. Here they are beginning excavation. It's going to be a long day.

Wednesday, November 4

Water Main Break: Day 1

A break was discovered late this afternoon. Fortunately, we had enough warning to stockpile water in the house. It does make things more complicated though. Like face washing.

Tuesday, November 3

Library Chimp

I thought of my youngest niece when I saw this guy.

Monday, November 2

Bust

He looks almost Appalachian from this angle.

Sunday, November 1

Birthday Gifts

Although I received a number of lovely gifts yesterday, this is one of my favourites. It's an ivory flower, picked out by my eldest niece. Gorgeous!

Saturday, October 31

Halloween

We received a dusting of snow today--not uncommon for October 31.

Friday, October 30

No Smoking

Context is everything.

Thursday, October 29

Where the 1970's Go to Die

A clash of patterns in my basement office.

Wednesday, October 28

F*cking Rain

Honestly, I have had enough of this weather. Gloomy, glum and gutted. Have started mega-dosing on Vitamin D.

Tuesday, October 27

Scarf Night

A close-up my latest crafting project. The particular scarf has been in progress for about three years. It was meant to be a Christmas gift for my mom, but got left behind in the UK. I found it while sorting through some handbags. It's a tricky yarn, very slippy, and it's next to impossible to pick your stitches back up. I've made about four or five attempts so far and had to unravel each one of them. Sigh.

Sunday, October 25

Listening

Darby listening to the leaves falling.

Friday, October 23

Dirt

The sun came out today, and I made the most of it. Although it doesn't look quite as lush in the photo, this dirt was a lovely mix of potting soil and compost. I spread it out over the flower beds at the front. Afterwards, I put together the leaf blower and made a lot of noise.
