Crystals

I found these in a craft store but didn't realise they were made with lead. Not ideal for my original intention, which was to give them to my nieces.

Sunday, August 30

Darby

Darby is quite comfortable stretched out on the bed.

Friday, August 28

Flower Garden

All the blossoms look amazing. The top shot is my favourite: you can see the pollen all over the bee's body.

Thursday, August 27

Physics Building

I spent a few mornings this week learning how to use database programs. The classroom was on campus in the old part of the Physics department. I would guess it was built around 1915.

Wednesday, August 26

Injury

I managed to bash my knee in the bath resulting in the most spectacular bump.

Monday, August 24

Darby

Darby in a deep sleep.

Saturday Afternoon

Life doesn't get much better than this.

Friday, August 21

Trees

Is this a copse or a thicket? And what is the difference?

Thursday, August 20

Garden

The rain has been great for the garden.

Wednesday, August 19

Pastoral Idyll

When we were kids, Dad used to take us out to the farm for an afternoon while he worked on some project or another. We'd usually drive back around this time of day. Although I didn't think much of it at the time, I realise now how lucky we were to grow up with so much open space.

Tuesday, August 18

Deluge

We've had lots of rain over the past week. This shower was short but powerful.

Monday, August 17

Slow

And I laughed, because it was true! Seriously, what possesses people? This is a reasonably good looking paint job, so it must have taken either time or money to complete. What circumstances made this response necessary? (I think I need to spend less time in rush hour traffic)

Sunday, August 16

American Beauty

I was cleaning the hob after my pasta boiled over and was absolutely transfixed by the patterns I was making with the suds. It was my floating garbage bag moment.

Saturday, August 15

Lamp Detail

I know this must seem hopelessly random, but this was the only thing I saw today that made me want to pull out my camera.

Friday, August 14

Broadway Allotments

These flowering plants punch way above their weight when it comes to smelling sweet.

Thursday, August 13

Lost in Translation

Even those without the benefit of high school French may be puzzled by the translation on this package. Although I suppose it's possible that traditional English cooking tastes equally as foreign as Chinese food to the the French.

Wednesday, August 12

Fawns

Spotted these two this afternoon while I was stretched on the chaise longue reading a mystery. (Yes, my life is hard). They were lovely and quite fearless. This picture captures some of their awkwardness. It must take some time before they're able to master those long limbs.

Monday, August 10

Necklace Detail

This necklace belonged to my grandmother. I don't were it anymore, but I like to have it out so I can look at it and remember her.

Tuesday, August 4

Road Works

Stopped on the way home today.

Monday, August 3

Evening Walk

Taking Darby out for his constitutional.

Sunday, August 2

If you were here . . .

. . . you would be looking at this right now.

Saturday, August 1

Rock

I've know this rock longer than I've known how to speak French, spell my own name or ride a bike. Its acquaintance predates countless boyfriends, a husband and even a niece or two. It bears witness to countless centuries and guards the entrance to our cabin.
