School for the Deaf

I was on campus today as part of the course I'm taking. We stopped by the former school for the death, which now houses the Extension Division. A really lovely example of neo gothic architecture.

High Tech

The pipes around the neighbourhood are being cleaned, and this is part of the 'high tech' approach, which means the roads won't need to be dug up.

Which is why I moved everything under the evergreen. All of the containers are pretty much saturated.

No one's thrilled to see the dirt in the driveway again, but at least this year they made an effort to clear a path to the gate.

I love how the sign promises valet parking yet specifies tap water. It's like a yuppie oxymoron.

Robin

Several weeks ago, I noticed that there were more birds--robins, sparrows, etc--in the area than in previous years. I also noted the complete lack of magpies and crows, birds that usually dine on the eggs of the aforementioned song birds. I naively assumed there was some 'natural' explanation for this shift in the aviary population. Rumour is that one of our neighbours is conducting a discreet cull of the less desirable feathered species.

More Construction

This project has been going on for at least 2 weeks, shutting off one of the major ateries in the City Park area.

Roads are closed all over the city. Getting almost anywhere has turned into an mapquest challenge.

After a season spent indoors, Audrey is looking less than healthy. I think she'll come back, but it's going to take some time. Not everyone is as optimistic though!
