Dusk

The snow, when it first touches your skin, feels like it burns rather than freezes.

Monday, February 1

Grey Wool

Need to switch off, so I hauled out my knitting. My project is to make a felted bag to hold my knitting needles.

Valentine's Day

An early Valentine's treat.

Sunday, January 31

Craik

I spotted this bit of sculpture while in Craik for a meeting. It's cunningly put together.

Sunrise

I was on the road early Sunday morning. The conditions were amazing: lots of great light, fog and hoarfrost. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to linger.

Thursday, January 28

Fruit

A fruit-filled still life spotted on the kitchen counter.

Wednesday, January 27

Winter Morning

Two shots today, both taken in the Kinsmen Park area. It's about a kilometer walk to the office from here, and I was mighty chilly by the time I made it in.

Tuesday, January 26

Streets

Only a few of the main streets have been plowed. Rumour is that the current municipal government decided to liquidate some equipment around the time they decided to privatize many of the services. Not very shrewd reasoning given the high probability of heavy snow in the area. But to be fair, they had a good run.

Monday, January 25

Drift

The wind must have been just right to let this drift build up along the edge of the roof.

Snow on Pine

The snow has finally stopped, but the traffic has yet to start up again. It's very peaceful out there, and I am going to spend a quiet day writing.

Sunday, January 24

Snow Day

Although the conditions weren't quite as bad as down south, it was snowy enough to stay home all day. Got lots done.

Saturday, January 23

Leaves on Trees

It's been snowing all day today, which makes the leaves on the trees look odd. We're supposed to get another 2-4 cm by this evening.

West Palm Beach

I snapped this while filling the rental with gas. It was a very thirsty SUV.

Thursday, January 7

Lunch

It seems like we did nothing but eat.

Monday, January 4

Key Kitsch

Spotted a warning sign on a faux gator.

Sunday, January 3

Local Food and Drink

We stopped to eat at a local marina. I tasted gator for the first and last time. It was unpleasantly chewy.

Saturday, January 2

Paradise

I could have stayed here forever: it was gorgeous!

Friday, January 1

Sunset

Sunset in the Keys a few hours later.

Warning: Vultures

Spotted this sign in the parking lot at the National Everglades Park

Thursday, December 31

Fishing Lure

We found this lure washed up on the beach, luckily before anyone stepped on it.

Friday, December 11

Bank of Ottawa

Snapped while driving through central Prince Albert today. I had a meeting in town and got a little lost on purpose on my way out. The downtown core has such a European feel to it.

Thursday, December 10

Thumb

The sin of pride: I am overfond of my new mani.

Tuesday, December 8

Cold

Snapped while in the car driving down Pembina fog rising from the river.:

Monday, December 7

Steam Rising

It's absolutely frigid here, and the river hasn't frozen yet, hence the steam.

Sunday, December 6

Bird in Flight

Faded but glorious in its own way.

Saturday, December 5

La Vie en Rose

Not quite what the song meant, but a better title than: "Yet Another Macro of a Rose"

Friday, December 4

Hoar Frost

Spectacular scenes this morning when I took Darby for his walk, but it was so cold my fingers started to go numb.

Thursday, December 3

Roses

These smell very sweet. Lovely!

Tree

I spent the evening decorating our small tree and listening to Christmas carols. Only 22 more sleeps.

Tuesday, December 1

Snow

Although we did get some light snow today, this dump is being trucked in. My best guess is that it's from the ice machine at the local rink.

Monday, November 30

Asleep in Under 30 Seconds

Darby quickly succumbs to exhaustion.
