Water Jug

The water jug emits a blue glow that lights the cabin after dark.

Asleep

Darby adopts his usual position: resting.

Tuesday, July 28

Sarcan

As a seeming reward for alcoholism, Saskatchewan offers cash refunds for bottles and cans. Today my abuses netted me close to $30.00. This is depressing, yes?

Monday, July 27

Happy Tragedy

Spotted this outside a local Wal-Mart and it made me smiiiile.

Preparations

It got so busy today, I forgot to take pictures. This one was snapped in the morning.

Friday, July 24

St Mike's

Although this place is idyllic, it's impossible to ignore the signs of urbanisation.

Garden Party

It's a lovely day for a garden party in the city.

Monday, July 20

Crows and Warning Sign

Spotted on Pest Hill while on my way home: Ominous looking isn't it?

Sunday, July 19

Flower Detail

Forgot to take a picture earlier today, hence the last minute flower snap.

Saturday, July 18

Reminders

It's been a few weeks since my nieces were here but there are still traces of them around the place.

Friday, July 17

On Your Bike

On your bike, as they used to say when I was a girl in Ireland.

Craftsman-Style Home

I spotted this home on my way from work today. Although I've walked up and down this street before, this is the first time I noticed this place. It's done in one of my favourite architectural styles: craftsman. This style was a product of the arts and craft movement, and it represented a major shift in how people lived. The movement marked a break from the European style, which had dominated North American architecture up until the turn of the century. This approach is characterised by its attention to detail, hence the 'craftsman' reference, as well as a more efficient approach to design. It's the original open plan floor space. Unnecessary hallways and doors are banished; instead, the rooms flow into each other off of a central entrance way. I love the whole approach: it's a very modern way of living.

Shevone's Lunch

Today was a bit of a holiday: we had lunch and then went to the matinee of Harry Potter.

Tuesday, July 14

Red Carpet

We went to BP for an early dinner. It just happened that Shannon Smadella, the current Galaxy Miss Canada, was doing a personal appearance. Judging by the state of her blow out, the circuit is strictly low-rent affair. And if there was any doubt, the finals were held in Tampa, Florida.

Monday, July 13

Evening Rain

Just fooling around with exposure and my mini-tripod, hoping to get a super sharp shot of the colours. They look electric in the late evening mist.

Sunday, July 12

Darby on the Dock

Darby chased some ducks (out of shot) off the dock.

Saturday, July 11

Premium Gas

Service station at Christopher Lake.

Friday, July 10

Dog Paw

Is it as lucky as a rabbit's?

Thursday, July 9

Acreage

Spent a few days on the acreage, relaxing in the self-same chairs.

Rainy Day

The view from my office today.

Saturday, July 4

Begonia Blossom

Lovely looking blossoms. Their lease is too short, so enjoy them while they last.

Friday, July 3

The Face of Terror

Darby taking refuge on my bed after hearing some fireworks go off nearby. I supposed the caption should read the face of the terrorised, but whatever . . . again, am not feeling terribly inspired.

Thursday, July 2

Seasonal Colours

Not been feeling terribly inspired lately, but when I looked down at the bags beside me I was struck by the colour combo. McDonald's is running an ad campaign that subverts a Christmas song for summer celebration. I must be on to something here, zeitgeisty-wise.
